Last Tuesday, April 24, we received the visit of an international delegation, with the aim of showing 2 new varieties of yellow and red kiwi in our country. The delegation was composed of Professor Mingzhang Li, chief scientist of the Sichuan Provincial Academy of Natural Resource Sciences (China) and co-director of the China-New Zealand kiwifruit joint laboratory, Dott. Antonio Ruffo fruitgrowing equipment and service (Italy), and Alejandra Cifuentes (Dole Chile).
The main objective was to show the new varieties of kiwi (HFR18 and HFY01) developed by Professor Li in China, which offer new attributes with respect to bacterial resistance caused by PSA and are shown with an interesting productive potential. These varieties are added to the restricted range of possibilities of yellow kiwi planted in our country and to open new horizons in the red kiwi. Without a doubt it is a challenge to be able to contribute to the development of these varieties, and adapt them to our reality, and we are honored to be part of this, since as a company we have a strong commitment to research and development in the Chilean kiwi industry .
